Lewis Howard Latimer (September 4, 1848 – December 11, 1928) was an African American inventor and draftsman.
Latimer received a patent on January 17th 1882 for the “Process of Manufacturing Carbons”, an improved method for the production of carbon filaments used in lightbulbs.
DEATH: Lewis Howard Latimer died on December 11, 1928, in Flushing, Queens, New York. His wife, Mary, predeceased him by four years.
