At approximately 3:39 p.m. Central Time on January 22, 1973, Johnson suffered a massive heart attack. After he had placed a call to the Secret Service agents on the ranch, they rushed to the former President’s bedroom. There, they found Johnson still holding the telephone receiver in his hand, unconscious and not breathing.
